The Prime of Eee Pad Transformer is unveiled

According to ZDNet UK, ASUSTeK Computer Inc. (ASUS) has officially unveiled the next generation of tablets, featuring a Quad-core mobile processor called Tegra 3 developed by NVidia. Check out the cool trailer!

The new tablet will be released in 2012 only and will feature a 10.1” screen. The device was first introduced in Taipei, Taiwan, on Wednesday, and it will cost around £499 when it comes to the UK in January.

The device is lighter, only 586g, and provides one more USB port than the predecessor, Eee Pad Transformer, which was launched in May. This device is also ultra-thin with only 8.3mm of thickness (one of the thinnest out there) and measures 10.4 inches by 7.13 inches.. Its audio is based on Asus’s own SonicMaster technology and it promises a battery life of up to 12 hours.

It comes with 32GB of internal storage, which can be expanded via the microSD card slot. Purchasers also get access to Asus cloud-based WebStorage, which provides up to 2GB of free storage.

It also comes with standard tablet features such as Wi-Fi connectivity, Bluetooth 2.1, 8-megapixel camera on the rear and a 1.3-megapixel forward-facing camera for video calling, includes a micro-HDMI port, omits 3G connectivity, and comes with a few business-targeted apps pre-installed. These include the SuperNote text and graphics notepad, plus Polaris Office, which allows users to read and edit Microsoft Office 97-2007 versions of Word, PowerPoint and Excel files on the move.

One of the features that will make this tablet stand out from the rest is that it will feature Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS), this system features  resizable widgets as well as tailored Gmail and Calendar, it brings contacts on the device into the People app, which integrates updates from social services like Google +, similar to the People hub on Windows Phone 7.5.

ICS is the first version of mobile operating system by Android which runs on both tablets and mobile phones. Previously, most Android smartphones ran the Gingerbread version and tablets used the Honeycomb build.

As well as being a standalone tablet, the Eee Transformer Prime can be placed in a keyboard dock to use as a laptop. Docking it adds one USB 2.0 port and an SD card reader, and extends the overall battery life to 18 hours, according to Asus. The dock on its own weighs 537g. The tablet will be available in the UK in grey or gold, and the keyboard dock is included in the £499 price tag.

One thing is for sure, this new tablet will give loads of different thoughts to people who are willing to buy their tablets for next Christmas, is the new Prime worth waiting for? Will it take a chance against the new Xoom 2? In my opinion this is a very powerful device and when it comes down to Android this new tablet will be as professional and entertaining as it can get and with the additional keyboard in the box, emailing and writing documents will  be really easy on this device. Motorola to launch 2 big boys on the tablet Market

Motorola has officially confirmed that the Motorola Xoom 2 and Motorola Xoom 2 Media Edition will be coming to the UK and we have got the official price tags thanks to T3.

The beautifully designed Xoom 2 features a 10.1” HD display, a pretty powerful 1.2GHz processor, 16GB of storage, back (5-mp) and front (1.3-mp) cameras and a 1GB of RAM to make this device smooth to the touch. The front display also comes with splash-guard nano technology protecting the device against spills and splashes. This device weighs only 599 grams and is 8.8 mm thick (thinner than the iPad2).

And the only difference with the Media Edition is the screen size, which Motorola decided to make a tablet with only 8.2” Gorilla glass HD display and of course the thickness and weight, which comes with only 8.99 mm of thickness and 386 grams.

Sadly both these devices will only come with Android Honeycomb (3.2) which is a shame as Android 4.0 will be release on the 17th of November with the new Nexus.

The price for both tablets raises above the £300 price tag, with the Xoom 2 at £379.99 and the Media Edition at only £329.99. Both these prices are under the iPad 2′s current price of £399, however Apple might have a trick on their sleeves for Christmas, we will have to wait and see!

There is no doubt that the Xoom 2 is a wonderful device and it might be just what we all been waiting for as an Android tablet. Don’t forget that Google bought Motorola Mobility earlier this year and this might be a device conceived for Android. Galaxy Nexus launching on the 17th November

One of the world’s most awaited phones, the Google Samsung Galaxy Nexus, is soon to come to stores near you. Well, if you are in Europe.

Amazon is going to retail the device at a price tag of £549 (£150 more than the Galaxy S II), and it’s not meant to come to the USA not even on next week! This means that our friends over in USA (and other countries outside of the European Union) will have to be jealous of our brand new phones that carry the latest of Android’s platform.

 

The Galaxy Nexus will be the first Android handset to run Ice Cream Sandwich, the codename for Google Android 4.0. It will feature a 4.6” screen, made possible in a smaller form factor partly by the removal of hardware buttons from the front.

This device was meant to be unveiled in San Diego at the beginning of October, but its launch was delayed by a week and instead took place in Hong Kong due to the death of Steve Jobs.

The phone comes equipped with a 1.2GHz dual-core processor and 16GB of storage, which is now quite the mobile standard.
